Irom Sharmila was born to be a social worker, not a politician. For a social cause, she became the global icon with title “Iron Lady.” But behind the parameters, she was just an ordinary mild natured woman who could hardly speak or express in no authorities terms even of her nearly two decades social cause. Inspite of it, she joined politics announcing to become the Chief Minister of Manipur. However, she could get only 90 votes in the last election.
Political victims like Irom Sharmila are mostly misled by close aids comprising of the good, the bad and the ugly. In order to serve their needs, they suggest, flatter and pressurise the wannabe politicians projecting them as God's gift to the down trodden and on being brainwashed with false hope and expectation, the victims take indecisive plunge into politics to their frozen hearts.
In this way, many good souls amongst the Naga tribes have become political victims. Some have even died heartbroken, instead of remaining as respectable social workers/leaders as destined to be. But the present scenario has become even worst. Every Tom, Dick and Harry who gets a platform to speak even once to a gathering have/wants to become a politician overnight, that too, to be a minister/CM aspirant, but never an MLA. No wonder the leadership crises, be it political, social or religion-all wannabe heads/leaders; not followers/listeners. But the utmost finality is: Apart from 60 Hon'ble legislators playing off and on musical chairs, along with the CM, Cabinet Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries, other leftovers are again appeased with cabinet status, pegs and weird designations. Thus maintenance of 60 high status legislators has siphoned off the state budget more than developmental activities meant for the Nagas.
With exception to few elders/leaders, today’s organization/group actions are either tainted with ism, political agenda, individual political aspiration or to serve individual needs, and ultimately being half backed, Nagaland sees no logical conclusion in any issue... Is NH, NSF, NMA, ENPO, NTC, CNTC, JCC and NTAC listening? And the Hon'ble 60 Legislators...!!!
