Ward 21 Committee prohibits collections and donations

Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The mushrooming proliferation of questionable unions and associations has negatively impacted the business sector, adding a significant burden to them and ultimately hurting Dimapur district and doing more harm than good, the Ward 21 Welfare Committee has prohibited all monthly and annual collections and donations by so-called business groups and unions under its authority.

Ward 21 Welfare Committee Convener, D Jonah Achumi and Secretary, Omega G Naga on Friday stated in a press release that under their supervision, no business unions or groups will be allowed to operate. Lapse on the part of those unions and associations to abide by this notification will force us to take our independent course of action, it stated.

The committee will coordinate with other wards/colonies affected by the existence of such unions/associations and decide on further course of action on time bound manner.

Further, the house has entreated upon the district administration once again not to forward the files of such random unions and associations for registration/recognition without prior and proper consultation with the colony council/GB of the respective area/colony in the near future as legalization of such fabricated bodies is creating woes and burden for the business community.

The committee stated that the first coordination meeting of the Gaon Buras (GB) and Council Chairmen of the four colonies in Ward-21, Dimapur was held on May 21, 2023 at Notun Bosti Council Hall.
