On the 21st November, 2017, The Morung Express published the speech of Lt. Gen. Anthony Ningkhan Simray, the Commander-in-Chief, NSCN (IM) in its front page of what he had said in the conference of ANSAM at Senapati.
Since no such corrigendum appeared subsequently, I am reacting to a statement of his. Some quotable statements are that “Power for the Nagas come from Christ, not (from) the barrel of gun.”
“We see 90 percent raw nationalism today. We harass our people, create problems for them and fail to see the cause. We impose our desire on the people but (we don’t realize/bother) what is the desire of the people? It is not easy to construct a nation and establish a firm foundation.” These quoted statements of Lt. Gen. Shimray who is one of the top brasses of NSCN (IM) are indeed very sensible, humble, truthful and honest in approach and therefore appreciated.
What has surprised me is that when he said that, “A solution to the Indo-Naga issue will come only in the interest of God’. This statement was published in bold letters by the said paper. I read and read this very sentence and tried to understand.
I questioned myself as to whether what the NSCN(IM) leader had said is correct? Is Naga political issue God’s problem? When Naga political issue is resolved, will it be in the only interest of God, the Creator and Living God.
Can one imagine that pending solution to Naga political problem causes inconveniences to God? Can God be so overburdened with Naga political issue yet to be resolved? Can one imagine that God can ever be in troubles? Will God be relieved from troubles when Naga political solution is achieved and therefore such solution will be in His interest?
I do not agree with this very statement. Indeed, it is the reverse. By God’s will, if solution to Naga political issue is achieved, it will be in the very interest of the Nagas only in the first place.
With or without such solution, God, Jehovah will never ever be in any problem but Nagas will continue with endless problems if solution is not achieved. It is therefore wrong to say that solution is in the interest of God. Saying anything irreverent to God Almighty inadvertently out of sheer and genuine ignorance may not necessarily displease God. Yet, when such utterance is intentional, it may boomerang.
This brief reaction is not intended to embarrass the NSCN(IM) leader. If he agrees with me it is good for all of us. The Bible taught us not to misuse His Mighty Name out of our emotions. Secondly, innocent and ignorant minds must not be wrongly articulated. Thirdly, to non-believers such misconception will wrongly impress them on how the Christians venerate the Living God.
