Water-logging at Dmp airport delays arrival by 6hrs

Dimapur | October 7

Nature and an apparent deficiency on the ground played havoc today as an Indigo flight from Kolkata to Dimapur was delayed by over 6 hours. The culprit, as per a passenger of the Indigo flight, was water-logging at the Dimapur Airport due to the heavy rain that lashed Dimapur on the wee hours of October 7.

Recounting the incident, the passenger said that the scheduled take off time from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata was 10:55am with arrival at Dimapur before 1:00 pm.

However, the passengers were informed of the delay only at around noon. “We were not informed by the Indigo officials that the flight has been delayed due to flood. At around 12 noon, they informed us that the flight will take-off at 2:30pm.”

The flight took off as informed at 2:30 pm only to return to Kolkata. According to the passenger, the plane was forced to return as it could not land due to water-logging at the Dimapur airport.

After landing at Kolkata, the passengers had to wait in the plane for an hour before information arrived that the airport in Dimapur was safe for landing.

“We finally took off around 5:40pm and reached around 6:40pm,” said the passenger.
