WCYO supports demand for repair of roads, bridges

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Youth Organization (WCYO) has assured support and cooperation to Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) in its demand for timely repair of roads and bridges.

“It is disheartening to see the near total collapse of basic public utility infrastructures in our state. Roads and Bridges, power/electricity, water supply, to name a few, are all in a pitiable condition,” lamented a press release issued by WCYO president, Likalo Letro and general secretary, Vekho Ruho today.

Asserting that good roads, bridges, uninterrupted power supply, water supply etc are citizens’ right, it stated that the demand/warning for timely repair of roads and bridges by WSYF is for common welfare and thus valid.

Meanwhile, WCYO termed it a pity that Nagaland has been surviving on the infrastructure created during World War II and the early 1960s and 70s. While the neighboring states are building international airports, flyovers, the nation's longest bridge, multi-lane roads and bridges, modern stadiums etc, “our state Govt. has been actively snoring peacefully over her citizens’ miseries without any sense of guilt and shame,” it added.   “…our famed hospitality and rich culture are of no use if our guests are to be tortured the moment they land in Dimapur till they reach Kohima.”

WCYO, “which also believes in the well-being of the common people and social justice,” appreciated WSYF for taking the lead in the issue.
