WOKHA, MAY 2 (MExN): The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WDCCI) has expressed dissatisfaction with the State Government’s alleged inaction on the demand for equitable representation of district chambers in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
In a statement, the Chamber said it is deeply concerned that some district chambers, including Wokha, were denied nominations to their respective ULBs, despite the need for fair representation across districts to ensure balanced growth and development. The WDCCI noted that a joint consultative meeting was convened by the State Government on April 23 in Kohima to discuss the matter, during which government representatives sought two weeks' time to resolve the issue.
However, the WDCCI cautioned that if the Government fails to address the demand within the stipulated period, it will proceed with an indefinite business shutdown within Wokha district.
