Kohima, October 24 (MExN): The coordination meeting of the NPF 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency was held on October 24 with Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, NPF President as the chief guest.
“Kohima has been the theatre where we have showcased our political, social, economic and cultural values…where the world sees us, and where we project our image in a way or direction we want others to see us,” said Rajya Sabha MP and General Secretary NPF, KG Kenye while stressing on the need for Kohima division to provide exemplary leadership and party workmanship.
Also discussing the crisis in the NPF, Kenye asserted, “We are the legitimate custodians of this party. We have been, we are and we will be.”
The essence of trust in any organisation, workplace or party, was stressed. Kenye pointed out that trust is the pivot around which the world is moving from government to government and from company to company. “They make agreement and memorandum of understanding on millions of dollars simply based on the essence of trust they have for each other,” viewed Kenye, adding that if one loses the trust of others, one loses everything.
Further, he said, integrity is the most important element for any government and organisation to function. “However, integrity has become a scarcity today and therefore people continue to look for this scarcity of integrity to find meaning in their work and life.”
Lamenting over the lack of integrity in Naga society especially in politics, the MP stated that outsiders will measure the worth of Naga society through their integrity.
Meanwhile, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu spoke on the importance of political education in Naga society. “We have our own political problem and history and that is our priority. Our problem is a political problem,” said Liezietsu who impressed on the need for political education among the young. Expressing that his generation have lived the political problem and the brutal history, he felt that it is the responsibility of their generation to ponder on the future of the young.
“Do not be hero-worshippers. Be your own leader. Live and act accordingly so that others will follow your example,” stated Liezietsu citing the example of a few party workers who left the party for their leaders in the dissident group. Only when this realisation sinks in the minds of each Naga, then Nagaland will develop, according to the NPF leader.
Goneiu Sirie, President, NPF Kohima division in the welcome address called for a united effort of all the party workers of the six constituencies under Kohima for the smooth functioning of the party.
