DIMAPUR, April 28 (MExN): Two leading organisations of the Western Sumi have resolved not to support further splintering of the Naga Political Groups (NPGs). According to a joint press release from the Western Sümi Kükami Hoho (WSKH) and Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF), the two organisations met on April 27, at the headquarters of the Western Sumi Hoho at Chekiye village, wherein “issues confronting our society today” were deliberated.
At the meeting, a resolution “not to allow any individual, group of individuals to form new factions at any cost and/or to canvas for creating divisions within groups/factions within the jurisdiction of Western Sümi inhabited areas,” was adopted. The release added that the Western Sümis will not extend support to further splintering of any faction or group from now on.
The release emphasised the need for unity among the Nagas and the importance of preventing the recurrence of divisions “being perpetrated by unseen forces.” While urging all the parties in concern to work towards bringing about unity, it maintained that the Nagas cannot afford the “unseen forces” fomenting division again. The WSKH and WSYF urged the Government of India “to expedite the Indo-Naga talks and bring the Naga Political Solution into logical conclusion at the earliest for the greater interest of the Nagas.”
