Western Sumi Peace Mission condemns

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): The Western Sumi Peace Mission Core Committee consisting of MLA Azheto Zhimomi and MLA Hewoto Awomi and representatives from all the Western Sumi frontal organization held a meeting on 3rd September 2012 at the residence of Kuhoyi Zhimo, chairman, Sumi Council Dimapur in connection with the incident at Kohima village resulting in the death of Kivika on 31th August and the consequent incidents along National Highway 29 on 1st September 2012.

The meeting has strongly condemned the ugly incident that took place along the National Highway 29 where in unruly mob committed vandalism particularly at Niathu Resort. The core committee expressed its appreciation to the state government, Naga Hoho, Angami Public Organization, Sumi Hoho, Kohima Sumi Hoho, Naga Council Dimapur, Western Sumi Hoho and its frontal organization for the timely intervention and cooperation in defusing the tense situation and preventing further escalation of vandalism.  

The committee also urged the state government to view the demands of SKK with utmost sincerity and to deliver justice at the earliest possible time. At the same the committee has also appealed to SKK to drop some of its demands in the larger interest of communal and tranquility. The committee further urged the state machineries and the Naga civil societies/organizations to keep vigil so as to prevent unwanted elements who might try to take undue advantage of the situation and create further confusion and misunderstanding between different tribes.
