Why Tseminyu CHC needs live-saving facilities

Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): For a sub-division with about a population of 50, 000, Tseminyu’s ‘health’ is in dire need of upgraded health facilities. Further, there’s only one doctor manning the sub-division’s only Community Health Center – that too an ad-hoc appointee running the whole sweat. The problem is even more pronounced due to the fact that the CHC is placed vitally right along NH 61, one of the busiest highways to the west.

Wondering where life-saving facilities are, the Rengma Mothers’ Association has submitted a petition to the Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare highlighting the sub-division’s ‘poor health.’ The petition appended by RMA’s president Kelesha Kath and vice president Kenyusha Tep pointed out the importance of Tseminyu’s CHC. The center looks after a population of about fifty thousand of the Rengma community as well as several neighboring villages. It is also placed right along National Highway 61 and owing to this vital factor, the center had to don the role of a big civil hospital for an unrecorded number of times, the RMA stated.

Major incidents have happened with the recent one having occurred on May 18. The concern authorities are very much in the know of it but are “pretending and ignoring” it, the RMA lamented. If a medical camp at Rumesinyu was not being held the fateful day, the situation could have gone beyond human imagination, the Rengma mothers stated.

“The sincerity of the government and the concern department is in a big question” RMA stated reminding that the unavailability of facilities and staff is causing immense suffering to the people of the area. The concern department is asked to immediately depute two doctors, one with specialization, to man the CHC. The RMA “will not get tired” until the demand is met by the government, the mothers stated.
