Will not allow trespassing of traditional boundaries: SAYO

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 12 (MExN): The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) today said it would not “under any circumstances” permit any groups or individuals to “trespass our traditional boundaries without the permission from the SAYO and anyone doing so shall be at his/her own volition and strict actions shall be initiated against the defaulters.”

A press release from the SAYO said this while informing that it has learnt of the Mao Council organizing the Manipur Sangai Festival from November 15 to 24 with various events organizing and undertaking trekking at Mt Tempü and Dzükou valley.  “The Southern Angamis have never objected such eventful festivals celebration at Okhro Ikhro but maintained status quo as the land traditionally belongs to the Mao community though it politically falls under Nagaland State Political Boundary,” the SAYO said.  It added that Kezoltsa, Tempü and Dzukou “traditionally belongs to the Angami tribe and basing on the vague interstate political boundaries/demarcation, any organisation or community should not take undue advantages or undermine the traditional stakeholders.”
