With 15 fresh cases, Manipur records 172 COVID-19 cases till date

Manipur recorded 15 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of people infected by the disease to 172.


The 15 fresh cases of COVID-19 are among those 1,249 samples tested during the last 24 hours.


Of the 15 new cases, 12 cases were confirmed at the VRDL of RIMS while the remaining three at the VRDL of JNIMS late Saturday, a Health department source said.


Among the 15 fresh cases, Thoubal district reported six cases (five males and one female) of COVID-19, Ukhrul five cases (two males and three females); Kangpokpi three cases (all females) and one male from Imphal West district. Among them, eight of them are Mumbai returnees while the other seven are Delhi returnees. 


Meanwhile, of the total 172 COVID-19 cases reported so far, 120 cases are active. It can be noted here that 52 of them have been discharged after recovering from the disease.


The official source said that the health conditions of the fresh cases are stable and they are being shifted to the Covid care facilities in RIMS and JNIMS hospital. 


All necessary containment and contact tracing are now in place, it added.
