Wokha: Disaster awareness & mock drill conducted at NEEPCO

Personnel of Home Guards, Civil Defense & SDRF Wokha participate in the mock drill held at NEEPCO, Doyang on March 28.

Wokha, March 29 (MExN): NEEPCO, Doyang in collaboration with Department of Home Guards, Civil Defense & State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Wokha conducted a one-day disaster awareness and mock drill at Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS) on March 28. 

It was held for the employees of NEEPCO, VKV School teachers and students, CISF jawans, LOU DHEP and local populace of DHPS Township. The drill aimed at improving emergency preparedness and response in the event of an actual emergency, stated an update from the PIB Kohima. The purpose of the drill was to simulate a real-life emergency situation and test the readiness and response of the employees, school community and local residents. The drill involved various scenarios, including fire, earthquake etc, it stated. 

During the programme, District Commandant, SDRF, Wokha Ngongval E Phom spoke on the advantages of conducting regular mock drill exercise and the various preventive measures to be taken before, during and after the earthquake. Coy Commander, Lanutemjen spoke on the mock drill and evacuation plan. Mhonyamo Humtsoe, Instructor Havildar demonstrated various types and usage of Fire Extinguisher. Altogether 30 personnel of Home Guards, Civil Defense & SDRF Wokha participated in the mock drill.

The Head of Plant, DHPS, NEEPCO, R John Zeliang mentioned that such drills will continue to ensure that everyone is prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of any emergency.
