Wokha District Magistrate issues prohibitory order

WOKHA, MAY 21 (MExN): Ahead of the by-election to the Nagaland Lok Sabha constituency scheduled on May 28, prohibitory order has been issued in Wokha after a review of the law and order situation.  

According to a DIPR report, an order issued by Manazir Jeelani Samoon, District Magistrate, Wokha said the prohibitory order was issued in order to have free and peaceful bye-election in the district.  

The order prohibits carrying of licensed arms, stick, daos, explosives (like fire crackers) machetes. It prohibits all contesting candidates or their agents or political parties from wall writing, pasting posters, paper or defacement in any form or erecting of cutouts, hoardings, banners in public property or public premises without due permissions of the District Magistrate.  

The order also prohibits the use of P.A/loud speaker system between 10 pm to 6 am, prohibits person or group of persons form carrying cash above rupees fifty thousand without valid documents, prohibit any person over 16 years of age wearing of mask, hood or any other device whereby a substantial portion of face is hidden or covered so as to conceal the identity of the wearer.  

The order shall come into force within Wokha District with immediate effect till declaration of result. However, this order shall not apply to officials involved in Government/ election related work and law enforcing agencies, the DIPR report stated.
