Wokha, July 24 (MExN): The Wokha District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19 has decided to conduct random testing in all colonies of Wokha town on a need basis.
This was reportedly decided in the DTF’s meeting on July 22 at Deputy Commissioners Conference Hall, ADC (Hq) Wokha. T Lankonsen Tsanglao presided over the meeting which was also attended by WDCCI representatives and colony council chairpersons of Wokha town, focused on issues relating to management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ADC stressed on the importance of having a proper co-ordination and efficient communication between the health care workers (HCWs)/front line workers (FLWs)with the community, especially with regard to COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
For effective and timely dissemination of information from the war room, it was decided that a WhatsApp group comprising of all colony council chairpersons and others FLWs would be created.
To create awareness and thereby remove the fear psychosis regarding COVID-19 testing and vaccination, the meeting decided to make an IEC about the benefits of COVID-19 testing and vaccination and dissemination of the same through the colony chairpersons. In this regard, the CMO and DPRO were entrusted to coordinate and work out the modalities.
The chairpersons also requested the President of the Wokha town Colonies Union to conduct a meeting of all colony chairpersons to chalk out strategies for effective management of COVID-19 related works and to assist the FLWs in contract tracing.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Wokha Dr C W Tungoe informed that for the convenience of the general public, starting from July 27, a random testing booth will be activated at Mt Tiyi Hall as an alternative to Dr Mhondamo Memorial District Hospital.
The DTF also discussed reports of some schools/pre-schools conducting classes for the students and in this regard, colony chairpersons were entrusted to keep strict vigilance and report to DTF if they find any school violating the SOPs.
To boost the morale and give proper attention to the affected families, the meeting also decided to check in/call at least once in two days for all those under home isolation. It was also reiterated that the families under home isolation can call the helpline numbers of Wokha district for any medical, psychological or emotional support.
The helpline numbers will be shared to the affected families by the concerned colony chairperson.
To effectively carry out vaccination drive, the CMO requested all the colony chairpersons to submit data of those who are not yet vaccinated.
