Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): One person was killed and several others injured when a bus carrying security and polling personnel met with an accident in Wokha district on Sunday. “The apparent cause of the accident seems to be mechanical failure,” stated a report from the state DIPR.
As per the report, the bus was on its way to Sungro village under 39 Sanis Assembly Constituency on election duty when it met with the accident near Thillong Bridge, Doyang. The driver of the bus was reported to be dead, while 12 injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Wokha. Arrangements for air evacuation were being made, it informed.
The DIPR further stated that a new team of polling personnel along with polling materials from the reserve polling personnel had been dispatched from Wokha headquarters and the EVM machines, if required, would be replaced from the reserve.
