Wokha Police ‘busts’ fake employment racket; two held

Wokha, July 2 (MExN): The Wokha Police has reportedly busted a fake employment racket and arrested the prime accused and an accomplice for their alleged involvement. 

In an update on July 1, the district police informed that the racket involved promising government jobs at the State Agricultural Research Station (SARS), under the State Agriculture Department. 

The prime accused, identified as one Lideno Yanthan, is an employee of the Agriculture Department, while her accomplice is Chenithung Kikon.  Hailing from Humtso village, Yanthan is currently a resident of Diphupar, while Kikon belongs to Longsa village and resides in Church Colony, Wokha. 

According to the police, the prime accused and her accomplices have swindled approximately 30 individuals by promising them government jobs under the SARS using fake and forged documents. 

They have cheated people out of an estimated amount of around Rs 40 lakh, the Wokha Police stated in the update on its official Facebook page.

It further appealed the public to remain vigilant against such corrupt and unlawful activities.

Meanwhile, the police informed that a soap case containing suspected brown sugar was also seized from the accomplice.

A case has been registered against the two accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, additionally with Section 66D of The Information Technology Act, 2000 as well as Section 21 (B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
