Wokha: Power Dept asks people to refrain from festive decorations

Says all public distribution transformer being overloaded

WOKHA, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The Power Department today informed that all colony councils and customers in Wokha are restricted from drawing extra power for decoration of streets/open spaces, Churches, houses etc during the upcoming festive season.

A press release from Er Chonrothung Ezung, Executive Engineer, Wokha Electrical Division stated that the department is compelled to issue this order in view of the public distribution transformer being overloaded in all colonies of Wokha Town and villages. The department stated that there is eminent threat for breakdown of distribution transformers unless a precautionary measure for restriction of load is taken.

It appealed to the customers to also refrain from using coil heaters, which is an offense as per the Nagaland Electricity Rule 2017, issued by the Chief Engineer (D&R), Power Department, Nagaland. The department added that “in the event of not complying and subsequent breakdown of public transformer, the undersigned Electrical Division will not be held responsible.”
