‘Woman should voice out against any form of violence’

Longleng, June 12 (MExN): The District Administration, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao & Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Longleng observed World Day against Child Labour under the theme ‘week of action against child labour’ at Educational Block Resource Centre hall on June 12. 

A DIPR report stated that while delivering the welcome address, B Bauom Phom, Office Assistant, One Stop Centre encouraged the gathering to help those woman in need to avail the services provided at OSC Longleng. “Every woman should voice out against any form of the violence faced in our society,” she said and added, “Be brave and be the change.”

Mano Phom, President, Phomla Hoichem in her short speech encouraged the women folk not to send their children to other places on false promises for education. She requested every individual to take up the responsibility to educate the people against child labour taking place in our society. 

Speaking on the day’s theme, Trongdiba Sangtam, SDO(C) Longleng, Nodal Officer to BBBP & One Stop Centre said that the International Labour Organization were the first to launch World Day Against Child Labour Day with the main objective to spread an awareness against child labour. 

“Every individual should take up the responsibility to spread awareness at the grass roots level about child labour,” he stated. Sangtam also encouraged “to care honour and provide proper education to every child without any discrimination and as a parent he/she should be responsible and capable to look after their own children.”

He also spoke about the upliftment of girl child under BBBP and to spread awareness on issues of inequalities faced by girl child in our society. “Since its implementation,” he stated, “Longleng district has a good report on BBBP and there is also increase in sex ratio of female and most importantly drastic improvement in the field of education.”

The programme was chaired by Nyangyungsangla while invocation was said by  Chingkumtenla, Women President, Agri Ward.
