Mon, July 16 (MExN): As part of Poshan Abhiyaan programme, Mon Block Convergence Action Plan committee conducted an awareness programme at Jahjon Ward, Mon Town on July 16.
A DIPR report stated that L. Amei Konyak, Supervisor, Mon, Social Welfare Department spoke on the topic ‘Over all Nutrition’. Community members especially women and adolescent girls attended the awareness programme.
Various functions and events on Poshan Abhiyaan was planned out by Mon Block Convergence Action Plan committee under the chairmanship of Chumlamo Humtsoe, SDO (C) Mon and scheduled as; July 16- awareness programme at Jahjon ward, Mon town; July 23 - programme for adolescent girls on the topic ‘Good Livelihood’ at CMO Conference Hall, Mon; July 30-Essay Competition on ‘Holistic Nutrition’ for School Children (9 standard); August 7- Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day for Pregnant & Nursing Mothers at all Anganwati Centres; August 15- awareness for Pregnant, Nursing Mothers & Self Help Group at Local Ground, Mon; August 25-Street play & various events at Mon Village.
District Administration, Stalk Holder Departments and various NGOs will take part as facilitators and Service provider during the programme.
Under POSHAN Abhiyaan programme, the main objectives are to prevent and reduce under-nutrition and stunting in children; Reduce the prevalence of Anemia among young Children, Women and Adolescent Girls; Reduce Low Birth Rate.
The target beneficiaries are children in the age group of 0-6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers and adolescent girls.
