Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): The Department of Philosophy, Dimapur Government College, in collaboration with the Department of Home Guards and Civil Defence, Dimapur conducted a workshop on Disaster Management on January 31.
Media & Publicity Cell, DGC informed in a press release that a team of 10 members led by Dy. Comm Avinuo, Chief Instructor came from Toluvi Training Institute for the demonstration workshop.
Addressing the workshop Avinuo stressed on the importance of creating awareness and more importantly on disaster preparedness. To this end, the department is actively engaged in a Disaster Preparedness Programme under Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEX) covering entire Nagaland involving demonstration on preparedness during earthquakes, fire and other emergency exercises, first Aid and Mock drills
.
During the workshop, nine methods of rescue were demonstrated. Dr. Thingthimla Yim, Medical Officer, CTI, made a presentation on First Aid techniques to victims during disaster along with the flow of the demonstration.
In trying to inculcate a sense of responsibility among the students during disaster situations, they were also made to go through the various techniques used to aid injured victims.
