Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Ghaspani Battalion of 7 Assam Rifles organized an awareness drive on the occasion of ‘World Day against Human Trafficking’ at Medziphema Town, Dimapur.

As part of the programme, lecture cum discussion session was organized by experts in the field of human trafficking from State Police Department as well as the NGOs and CSOs.

Relo Aye, ADCP (Crime) Dimapur apprised the participants about the anti-social nexus involved in the human trafficking as well as the preventive measures to be taken by all members of the society.

Kilentola Jamir, Holistic Counselor deliberated upon the topic ‘Victims’ Voices Lead the Way’.

Relo in his address advised that people should always keep one or two phone numbers memorized so that in case of any eventuality, help can be sought immediately. Other counselors also informed that state helpline numbers for women is 181 while that of children below 18 years is 1098 which are ready to provide assistance 24x7 anywhere in Nagaland.

The event was organized in collaboration with Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho (MTMK) and was attended by about 70 leaders from Medziphema Town, Gaon Buras, women, youth and student organizations.

The participants appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles in spreading awareness amongst the local populace based on the concept of ‘Be Wise - Be Safe’.

The programme was compered by Atsi Jamir, Entrepreneur, while welcome speech was shared by 2 I/C, 7 AR Medziphema. Tei Meyase, Treasurer, MTMK, pronounced the invocation and Neitsolowe presented a special number while Akhoto Kuotsu, President, MTMK, delivered the vote of thanks.
