Dimapur, July 30 (MExN): The National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) Nagaland Region, in collaboration with the Assisi Centre for Integrated Development, marked the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons with a significant event held in Sachu Colony on July 30.
The observance featured speech by Sr. Florence, an expert on human trafficking, who offered a dive into the impacts of trafficking on individuals and families. Sr. Florence emphasized the role of belief, prayer, and robust support systems in addressing this grave issue. She underscored the crucial role of parents in safeguarding their children against the dangers of trafficking.
Sr. Pramila Iobo, Coordinator of NDWM Nagaland Region, delivered a welcome address, urging vigilance against the deceptive promises made by traffickers. Her remarks highlighted the importance of caution, especially for young girls who may be targeted through online interactions and false job offers.
The event was orchestrated by Abigail. Lanusangla, Director of Mission Shakti, and Lichibeni Yanthan, a staff member of the organization, shared insights on various Mission Shakti schemes designed to support and rehabilitate trafficking survivors, particularly women and girls.
The event commenced with a prayer by Caroline, seeking blessings for the ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sanu, who expressed appreciation for the speakers, participants, and attendees, and emphasized the collective effort required to eradicate human trafficking.
The observance was attended by 102 participants.
