Longleng, September 17 (MExN): As part of the observance of World Suicide Prevention Week (September 10 to 16) with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”, an awareness programme was organised By DMHP (District Mental Health Program). The awareness programme was organised at GHS Bhumnyu, Christian School and Good Shepherd School Longleng.

A press release from Media CMO Office stated during the program, awareness was given by Mongyung, Clinical Psychologist, who highlighted the importance of mental health, early intervention, and open conversations in preventing suicide. She spoke on the importance of mental health awareness, early identification of psychological distress, and the role of family, peers, and teachers in providing support. She emphasized that talking openly about emotions and struggles can help break stigma and save lives. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and that seeking help should never be seen as a weakness. Community participation, awareness, and timely interventions play a vital role in reducing the burden of mental illness and preventing suicide.

Poster Making activity was conducted among students, where they creatively expressed messages of hope, resilience, and support. The activity aimed to engage young minds in spreading positive messages of hope and support.
