WSSA annual sports meet begins

Niuland, February 22 (MExN) The Western Sumi Sports Association (WSSA) kick-started its annual sporting meet on February 22 with Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd.), Advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs as the special guest at Kuhoxu Village under Niuland subdivision.  

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Zhaleo Rio acknowledged the elaborate efforts of the host village as well as leaders towards execution of all arrangements for the grand occasion. 

“We should be able to accommodate and consider the interest of other fellow beings in order to develop the spirit of oneness and create unity, be it among tribes or the Nagas in general. It is only through unity that peace can prevail in a community and society”, he noted.

Rio called upon the youngsters to be disciplined which is a prerequisite in sports and at the same time, opt for proper guidance and training through all available means. He also informed that there are job opportunities through reservation for outstanding sportspersons provided they specialise and excel in their disciplines. To parents and leaders alike, he urged them to motivate and support promising children so that they achieve glory to represent Nagas even at the national and international level. 

The inaugural session of the 22nd MBE Zhuikhu Memorial Trophy was compered by Pekingto Y Zhimo and Kuhoto Awomi while the children department, KBC, presented a choreography and a folk tune was sung by the women of the host village. Ilhoshe Pucho, Chairman, NACLF, invoked God’s blessing and Yevito Chishi, Games Secretary, WSSA, administered the oath to players.
