
Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has appealed both the Kuki and Meitei community in Manipur to shun violence and refrain from indulging in any further provocative acts so as to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur state.
Stating that any form of problems and issues can be solved through peaceful dialogue, the Front urged both communities to sit together and hammer out solution for the benefit of both communities in particular and Manipur state in general.
The WSYF further urged the Manipur state and central government to sincerely place mechanism to sort out the differences between two communities so that people of state can live in peace and tranquility.
Meanwhile, the Front further urged Kukis and Meiteis living in Sumi Areas of Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima to remain calm and refrain from inter-community skirmishes.
“Any of that sorts by individual, group or community shall not be tolerated and will be dealt scrupulously, which may lead to expulsion from the above mentioned areas,” it cautioned.
The WSYF also condemned the vandalisation of Naga Students' Federation (NSF) office on May 27 and called for necessary befitting action against culprits as well as settlement of issues pertaining to NSF office at Naga Club building at the earliest.
