DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 8 (MExN): The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has informed that farmers under western Sumi areas have failed to cultivate their fields due to the insufficient rainfall which has left the farming community in huge distress. A press release from the WSYF asked the Nagaland Chief Minister to release the additional assistance of drought funds from SRDF 2021-22, an amount of Rs 39.28 crores which was released by the Central Government on June 16 for drought hit areas to let the effected farmers avail their livelihood. It said that Niuland district is the worse hit area and the farming community is already experiencing drought this year (2022) too, since all their agriculture crops have failed and hunger looms large in the drought hit areas. The WSYF hoped that the CM would immediately release the fund for the poor farmers.
