Xchange’18 North East Youth NGO Summit held in Aizawl

Aizawl, October 9 (MExN): The Xchange 3rd North East Youth NGO Summit, which kicked off on October 3 at Berawtlang Tourist Centre, Aizawl concluded on October 5. The Summit was sponsored by the ICFAI University with Mizoram Youth Commission, Tourism Department, Govt. of Mizoram, Mizoram Rural Bank as Associate Partner.   Armstrong Pame, IAS, Director of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Manipur and Ashish Kundra, IAS, Commissioner  & Secretary, Department of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Mizoram were the special guests at the concluding event.   An initiative of the Dimapur based Youth led NGO, CAN Youth, the summit was held with an objective to connect major youth leadership development organizations from North East Region  on various spheres, informed a press release issued by its Secretary Zhove Lohe.   Among other, it include substantive ‘Open Space’ conversation; collaboration among Youth – Service Professionals  in order to mobilize Youth Positive leadership Training;  to exchange ideas, resources and projects; to develop/explore emerging ways to introduce youth to servant leadership, it added.   It also aimed deliberate and discuss on challenges as well as opportunities of youth leadership development and focusing on 5 areas - Good Governances, Social entrepreneurship as a tool to enhance Youth employment; discussing and planning  on role of youth led NGOs on sustainable development Goals Vision 2030; environment & climate change and career skills.   Addressing the gathering, both the founder/co-founder of Youth led NGOs in NE,  special guests shared that setting up of NGOs was good but one must have clear focus and stick to their purpose saying most of them presently exist for money purpose, the release said.   The guests also noted that they should focused bringing back our culture of dignity of labor among youth and urged the gathering to take inspiration from the Mizoram people who do all the work by the local people, the release further noted.   They further said it was high time for Youth led NGOS to work actively and network among different agencies to bring a positive impact, it added.   Three best Youth led NGOs - We care in the core, Manipur; Change one Life Foundation, Meghalaya; and Rural Community Development Centre, Nagaland - were selected among the participants with cash prizes sponsored by ICFAI University during the summit.
