Kohima, May 10 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) organised the 4th edition of the M Chuba Meritorious Award 2026 ceremony on May 9 at the Cimorb Hotel Conference Hall, Kohima.
Instituted in memory of Lt M Chuba, the award recognises the Yimkhiung candidate securing the highest aggregate score in the HSLC examination.
This year’s awardee, Ashila K, who secured 94.83 per cent and achieved a Top 20 rank in the HSLC Examination 2026, was felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, along with a memento and certificate.
The programme was chaired by Runshito Lims, General Secretary of YAA.
The ceremony began with an invocation by Lily, CED, YBBK, followed by a welcome address from Toshikhiung, President of YAA.
Short speeches were delivered on behalf of the family of Lt M Chuba and by Moses P Yimchunger, President of Yimkhiung Union Kohima.
A special song was presented by Wungyinla, General Secretary of YSUD.
Following the felicitation programme, Ashila K shared her academic journey through a testimonial speech.
Rachel, Women Director of YBBK, offered a prayer for the students, while Rithrong T, Vice President of YAA, delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme concluded with a benediction by Akumla Kamei.
Community leaders, parents and students attended the ceremony to encourage and celebrate the meritorious student.
