YAN supports NC’s decision on unabated taxation

Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): Expressing great hope for common realization towards shaping future Nagaland for the well being of all, the Youth association of Nagaland (YAN) in its executive council meeting has resolved to extend its fullest support and cooperation to the Naga Council’s (NC) movement against unabated taxation, stated YAN in a press release.

The Association has warned any individual, group of people, party not to try undue advantages which may lead to misunderstandings or subjugating the process.  Giving reasons for the move it stated, “Business communities are left with no other option than to burden their customers/ consumers, so long as unabated taxations are levied on them.” To substantiate the objective of this move, the YAN reiterated more concern on the welfare of the customers / consumers not only for the people living in Dimapur, but for all the people who come to Dimapur for shopping or for other business means.

While urging the leaders of the different factions to make the lives of their people easier, the Association conveyed its "clear message" to the State government agencies to stop encouraging any illegal taxation not only in Dimapur, but in the entire state of Nagaland. It further affirmed that opening of “Dealership system” is vandalizing the normal functioning of business, therefore urged the leaders of the different factions to “immediately” cancel the system and give independent hand to the business communities for better changes and improvement. The statement also asked the business communities to prepare modalities to ensure reasonable minimization of rates and prices in all the different commodities/ goods as “the ongoing rates are double the price of the wholesaler rates.”

Meanwhile, YAN asserted that the Naga youths from all nooks and corner are “stagnant with unemployment problem” and therefore urged the “responsible and sensible leaders to assimilate all possible means to shun any practices from going beyond certain limit.”
