Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan conducted a physical inspection of the ongoing Mangmetong-Doyang road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III) in Wokha district on Wednesday. The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of the project and ensuring its timely completion.

During his visit, Yanthan interacted with the local villagers affected by the road construction. In his discussions, he emphasized the importance of the road, which is expected to serve as a crucial infrastructure connecting the Sungro Range with neighboring districts, including Mokokchung. He described the road as both highly desired and essential, addressing the community’s pressing need for better connectivity.

The Advisor urged the villagers to extend their support and cooperation to ensure the project’s success, stressing the road's significance as an iconic piece of infrastructure that will benefit many communities.

He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the contractors in the execution of the project. While recognizing the efforts made thus far, Yanthan pointed out that the progress had not yet reached the expected levels. He, therefore, urged the contractors to accelerate the work, stressing that the civil work must be completed by June, as per the initial commitment. He reminded the contractors of the trust placed in them by the local community and the importance of meeting the deadline.

Yanthan further expressed the community's strong desire for the road’s timely completion, while highlighting the necessity of maintaining high-quality standards throughout the construction process. “This is a vital lifeline for the community, and we must ensure that the quality of work is not compromised,” he said.

In addition to his engagement with the contractors, Yanthan took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the affected villagers for their ongoing support of the project. He reminded them of the significance of government schemes like PMGSY, which are often once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for rural development.

The inspection was attended by members of the Ao community from Mangmetong, along with villagers from the Sungro Range. Earlier, during the inspection, the contractor assured the Advisor and local councils that earth-cutting work would be completed by June, as promised.

It is worth noting that the launch of the T01 (Doyang) to Mangmetong Road under PMGSY took place on September 13, 2024, at the Sungro town community hall, marking the beginning of this important developmental project for the region.
