
Dimapur, April 17 (MExN): After the declaration of ‘Molungyimsen Christian Pilgrimage and Naga Educational Heritage Village’ (MCP&NEHV) by the Government of Nagaland, it has initiated series of developmental activities for the upliftment of the village and to enhanced the Tourism sector in Nagaland.
MCP&NEHV, Secretary, I. Maonungsang stated in a press release that the Government of Nagaland has sanctioned for the construction of two waiting shed at Molungyimsen Village vicinity, which the villagers has christened it as ‘Yitachu View Point’. The inauguration programme was graced by Er Toba Angami, Executive Engineer, Tourism with host of officers from the Tourism Department in the early part of April 2013.
On that inaugural occasion, Er. Toba Angami exhorted the gathering and pointed out that the department was very pleased towards the Committee for constructing the beautiful “View Point” and urged the villagers that the maintenance of the viewpoint should be the responsibilities of the villagers. He also mentioned that the Molungyimsen Village is not only the “Christian Pilgrimage Destination” for the Indians but also the whole world.
Molungyimsen Village Council, Chairman, Kora Tzudir acknowledged the magnanimous gesture shown by Yitachu, the then Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism and Justice & Law by visiting and undertaking the Pilgrimage Walk on the 14 kilometres footpath paved and used way back in 19th century by Rev Dr Clark during which historic walk, he himself air marked, the spot for construction of two waiting sheds on the stretch of the road on February 8, 2012. In addition, the Village Council expressed gratitude to Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland and his good Government for propagating all round developmental activities for strengthening the tourism machineries in Nagaland. He thanked the Tourism Department for nurturing and streamlining the tourism industry by initiating infrastructure development especially at Molungyimsen vicinity.
The programme was chaired by the I. Moanungsang, Secretary, MCP&NEHV where a scripture reading and prayer was pronounced by Imli Ozukum, Pastor, Molungyimsen Baptist Church (MBC), followed by a brief report of the construction by Convenor construction committee T. Meren Longchar.
