‘Youth: The answer in search for peace’

Nagaland delegates attend Global Peace Youth Exchange in Bangkok

Bangkok, November 12 (MExN): Johnny Ruangmei, OSD, NSDMA, Home Department and former Secretary General, Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) was invited as a special guest speaker at the Global Peace Youth Exchange held at United Nation Convention Center (UNESCAP), Bangkok, Thailand from November 7 to 12. It was organized by Global Peace Foundation, USA and Global Young Leaders Assembly in collaboration with World Youth Assembly.  

Johnny spoke on the topic ‘Youth the answer in the search for peace’ (a perspective from North East India with particular reference to Naga peace process). He enlightened the delegates about the hidden world between Tibet, China and Myanmar- the North East India and also about Nagaland, according to a press release. He highlighted the potential of the North East India, especially Nagaland, in the context of building connection between ASEAN countries and also other neighboring countries.  

He impressed upon the delegates to inculcate a culture of building the connect between physical science and spiritual world; a culture of web connecting the young for benevolent world; a culture fertile for nurturing young contemplative and articulate leader to comprehend the inner event and what is happening in the society, the release said.  

In the end, the guest speaker said, the culture of Asia Pacific Youth is to become an industry to produce breakthrough leaders with extraordinary capabilities to envision as well as to plan and implement strategies to lead the society with direction.  

On North East India, Johnny told the delegates that the region has a huge potential in terms of eco-tourism, trade and natural resources. The North East India region has 80% of India’s international borders and it is a strategic location both of India and other neighboring countries, he stated.  

The delegates at the Global Peace Youth Exchange were from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Albania along with two participants from Nagaland, namely Benedict and Limasenla, who are executive office bearers of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM). Both the delegates from Nagaland were supported by Elias T. Lotha, former President, CAN and Shingato, former Secretary, CAN.
