Wokha, July 25 (MExN): A major road repairing along the stretch of NH-2 (erstwhile NH-61) was initiated under Wokha Humtso Elumyo Senior Youth Welfare Forum (WHESYWF) on July 25.
The Forum carried out major filling of potholes from NST to Police Point with boulders and chips. Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha (NCS), Superintendent of Police, Wokha Imtitoshi Meren along with the Chairman and Gaonburas of the three villages also participated in the road repairing.
In his short address, the DC expressed gratitude to the Forum and volunteers for the good initiative and assured all possible help in the days to come.
The SP Wokha while lamenting the deteriorating condition of roads in Wokha expressed gratitude to the Forum for taking up the challenge for better roads.
WHESYWF, President, Renchio Murry expressed concern on the pathetic condition of roads in Wokha and commented that it is the fundamental right of every citizen to have good roads. He laid a remark that the endless potholes cause much difficulty for drivers to navigate vehicles and have created a very serious condition for decades. Meanwhile, he encouraged the volunteers to be a responsible citizen and urged them to contribute for the welfare of the society.
All together 97 volunteers actively participated following strict COVID-19 norms. The Forum also distributed face mask to all the volunteers.
Earlier, the social activity commenced with an invocation from Wopemo Murry, Deacon, NST Sector Baptist Church.
