YouthNet Pork Chop- 2 opens in Kohima

Kohima, April 2 (MExN): As part of the ‘Impact5000 by 18’ campaign which is a joint programme of YouthNet with the Government of Nagaland (To impact 5000 lives 2018 in the field of entrepreneurship and private job sector). A second outlet of Pork Chop- A local pork retail shop has opened at High School, Junction, Kohima.   Chief Analyst Officer YouthNet John Meyase said, “Since we opened Pork Chop in 2014, we are happy to see eight more local pork shops open in Kohima. It is good for the local economy as it creates employment and also livelihood for our piggery local farmers.”   He also mentioned it was important for the Government to keep a check on the pricing, quality, hygiene with frequent inspection so all the butchers’ shops can cater well to their customers.  The entrepreneur is Kito Chophi who is also the co- founder of the first pork Chop. He says local pork sells out in 2-3 hours. Initially, supply was difficult because of the huge demand but over time, we have seen more people get into commercial piggery. We need to encourage our farms rather than import pigs from outside states. Im sure the municipality, Department and entrepreneurs can create an eco-system that will benefit our local piggery farmers in Nagaland and this will help our economy.

The Butchers at the Pork Chop are both graduates Vituo Seyie and Mechal Kikhi who have been there since day 1 of Pork Chop. Pastor Kevichalie Metha from Perachizie Baptist Church said the invocation prayers.
