The State’s Department of Youth Resources & Sports (YRS) during its coordination meeting held here today discussed at length on the feasibility of holding the Dr T Ao tournament this year.

Assessing the pros and cons, it was decided that if the COVID-19 pandemic situation does not worsen, the tournament will be conducted by following all Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) given by the government.

The coordination meeting was held under the initiative of the Youth Resources & Sports Advisor, Er. Zale Neikha. The YRS Department is a unique department with many components of both Centre and State, which includes National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Bharat Scouts & Guides (BSG) and Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA).

Addressing the meeting, Er Neikha said the meeting aimed to bring together the officers of the different branches of the department and update their respective activities. He said that similar meetings will be held from time to time and called upon the officers to continue to give their best for the welfare and positive growth of the youth.

Youth Resources & Sports Commissioner & Secretary, Alun Hangsing also exhorted the gathering and thanked Er Neikha for his concern for overall growth of the department. He also shared about the composition of the YRS Department and concerns regarding activities taken up and the way forward planned by the different cells under the department.

All the cells presented their activities carried out till now and their plans for the remaining months of the year. The meeting was chaired by Youth Resources & Sports Director, Akumla Chuba.
