YUK, MYO condemn alleged assault on minor girl in Phesama

Kohima, May 14 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Union Kohima (YUK) and the Merama Youth Organisation (MYO), Phesama, have strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse and physical assault of a minor girl and other individuals at Phesama village on May 12.

In separate statements, both organisations termed the incident “shameful and inhumane” and called for prompt legal action against the accused. YUK stated that violence against women and minors violates human dignity and creates fear and insecurity in society, while urging collective action against gender-based abuse.

The MYO, meanwhile, expressed anger over the alleged involvement of one of its members, Seyieneiu Chutso, son of Neise Chutso, in the incident. It said the organisation would fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies and has resolved to expel the accused from its jurisdiction for five years, from May 15, 2026 to May 15, 2031, citing multiple past offences.
