Zapami builds community hostel for village students

Nagaland’s Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Neiba Kronu on Friday inaugurated Zapami Village Hostel at Zapami under Phek district.

It was constructed under Article 275 (1) during 2019-20.

Addressing the gathering, Kronu acknowledged the villagers for quality execution of the project. The Minister appreciated the village for initiating community hostel for the village students, adding that such will go a long way to empower the future generations. He said that human resource development is the most important area where all should give its best.

Kronu assured that he would work hard to ease the burden of the farmers by improving agri link roads in the village. He maintained that good road connectivity will open lots of economic opportunities.

He encouraged the villagers to look forward in life with positive attitude and not waste time in trivial issues of differences. Kronu encouraged the villagers to provide land when developmental government projects comes in the area as the ultimate benefit goes to the user community.

Dingulo Khutso, president, 16 Pfutsero Assembly Constituency NDPP said that the constituency people are fortunate to have a leader like Kronu who always extend and exhibit deep concern for overall development of the people.

In his brief report, Kelhikha Kenye who supervised the construction of the hostel said that Kronu has fulfilled the long aspirations of the village to have a residential school in the village.

He recalled how the church, village council and Village Education Committee along with the students, parents initiated community hostel in 2017 to bring quality education in the village.

Kenye also said that village is planning to introduce vocational learning in the hostel in the years to come to revive the traditional institution of learning through morung system.

Earlier, Zapami Village Council chairman Zewekha Wetsah delivered welcome address. The function was led by Zapami VDB secretary Kedoutsolhi Wetsah while vote of thanks was delivered GB Neingulo Khutso.
