ZB Manipur condemns NSCN (IM) decision

Imphal, March 29 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur representing the Zeliangrong people in the State of Manipur strongly condemned the decision of the NSCN (IM) to grant recognition to three separate tribes “breaking up the Zeliangrong into pieces”.   Terming the NSCN (IM)’s decision “untimely and unwise”, the Baudi contended that the decision was taken with an aim to appease some individuals without consulting the Zeliangrong people or the leaders who represent the Zeliangrong community.   “While the entire Naga people are waiting for the most anticipated political solution such divisive decision is never expected from responsible organization like NSCN (IM),” the ZB (M) added.   It argued that the Tatar Hoho decision aims to break up the Zeliangrong family into pieces and to reduce it into weak and minority groups, and as such, urged that the decision be reviewed at the earliest “in the interest of the Zeliangrong people in particular and larger interest of the Naga people.”   “The NSCN/GPRN adopting such a divisive policy with intention to create discords among the brothers within the Zeliangrong family is not acceptable at all,” it added.   The Baudi further stated that the Zeliangrong people neither gave approval nor authority at any point of time to the NSCN (IM) to decide the affairs of Zeliangrong family.   As such, the Baudi advised the NSCN/GPRN to hear and respect the voice of the Zeliangrong people “and not succumb to the pressure mounted by few sectional groups which are devised by vested interest”.   In the event of any eventuality of negative consequences arising due to misunderstanding created by the decision of the Tatar Hoho, the NSCN (IM) shall be responsible, the ZB (Manipur) warned.
