ZB for strengthening peace process, reconciliation

Imphal | March 5 : Zeliangrong Boudi has made a clarion call to work unitedly and in selfless manner in strengthening Indo-Naga peace process and Naga reconciliation and has urged the newly formed Zeliangrong LR to review the reason for its formation.
In a threadbare deliberation, Zeliangrong Boudi, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland president Raitu Chawang underlined the need to strengthen unitedly and in a selfless manner the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process and the Naga reconciliation under the aegis of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).  This was part of the resolution adopted at the 1st State Executive of Zeliangrong Boudi Manipur held on March 1, 2011 at Namching Village in Senapati district with Thomas Kamei, Chairman ZB Manipur in the chair and Samuel Suaihiamlung Kamei, state Secretary ZB Manipur recording the proceeding.
Another important resolution of the meeting was the appeal the assembly has made to the newly floated Zeliangrong outfit to reconsider its decision. “Taking into account the present scenario in the in the Zeliangrong society, the house acknowledged the initiatives of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) which has impacted the Zeliangrong region in bringing about peace and mutual understanding among various factions of Naga underground outfits,” it stated, therefore the assembly has appealed to the newly floated Zeliangrong outfit to “review its decision”.
ZB will not encourage the formation of any new outfit/organization/faction at this critical juncture of Naga peace process in larger interest of the Naga nation, it further said, adding that Zeliangrong Boudi and Zeliangrong people shall render service to bridge the gap among various factions of Naga underground outfits.
The meeting has also resolved to constitute a good will mission in order to maintain peace and understanding among different groups of Naga underground outfits. The meet was also attended by Zeliangrong leaders like Ningthaodai Gonmei, speaker ZB (AMN), Elu Ndang, general secretary ZB (AMN), Athuan Abonmai, Gaidon Kamei, Dr Benjamin Gangmei, Ashinpou Gangmei, Kalotdi Kamei, etc.
 
Clashes reported; ZUF cadre killed

There has been fierce gun battle between the NSCN-IM and the newly floated Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) somewhere in Khoupum area in Tamenglong district today. According to the reports, one ZUF cadre was killed in the clash. That incident occurred at around 10:30 this morning. The slain cadre of ZUF has been identified as one Poule of Halflong, Assam. However, the clear picture of the incident is yet to be ascertained till the filling of this story. Further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong students' union and the Zeliangrong youth front said they took serious note of the incident. They termed the incident as "unfortunate". "We Nagas are striving hard for peace under the banner of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) when such unfortunate incident happened," said ZSU and ZYF. They appealed both the warring factions to halt the clash immediately in the larger interest of the Naga society.   
It is worth noting that a Zeliangrong based militant outfit was floated with a slogan, “Zeliangrong Ringtelo,” meaning ‘Long live the Zeliangrong people’ on February 25, 2011. The new underground outfit christened as Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) was floated with a primary aim to protect the Zeliangrong interest, according to the ZUF.
