Zeliangrong Baudi resists ‘division’ attempt

Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi of Nagaland Assam and Manipur today said it would respond befittingly if the NSCN/GPRN “chooses to forgo its stand by shredding the social fabric of our people.”
The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) said the Zeliangrong people are ‘deeply hurt’ by the “non-committal attitude of the NSCN/GPRN towards the genuine concerns of our people in respect of reorganization of Zeliangrong region by the NSCN/GPRN.”
A statement was received here form the organization today.
The organization said it is appalled by the stand taken by the NSCN/GPRN “towards division of our land and its people.” The ‘collective leadership’ is for reconciliation and untied struggle for self-determination, the organization stated, and the authority of the region is for “disintegration of a united family whose history of struggle for freedom dates back before the beginning of the Naga freedom struggle.”
The Zeliangrong Baudi said it stands for any “reforms that inclusively associates its people and involves the Zeliangrong community and does not spell schism or division in its social fabric.”
“The wound of social and geographical division of our people by the Indian Government into three states of its union has not been amalgamated yet and the NSCN/GPRN looks to divide the very fabric of family by dividing our people into cognate groups.”
Further, the organization said the Zeliangrong people had been, and will always be a close-knit family. ‘This can very well be confirmed from history, and our present stand and cautious understanding towards reorganization of our region can be had from the numerous representations and press statements of our concerned people till today,’ the organization stated.
“In spite of the numerous patient cautions, if the NSCN/GPRN chooses to forgo its stand by shredding the social fabric of our people, The Zeliangrong people, as per resolution No.3 of its central executive meeting, will deal with a befitting response towards any divisive element and will not co-operate with the organization thereof,” the organization added.
