Longleng, April 25 (MExN): Longleng district observed the World Malaria Day on the theme ‘Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives.’ National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) observed the day in 48 villages all the three blocks Longleng block, Yongnyah block, Tamlu block.
A press release issued by the CMO office, Longleng stated that the ASHAs of the concern block conducted awareness programme on malaria disease and the measure and steps that is to be followed in order to keep oneself save from the disease. They also conducted collection of blood samples. A total number of 392, blood sample were collected from Longleng district.
Since 2019, there has been no malaria cases reported in the district. The NCVBDC team of the district has left no stone unturned in ensuring that the district is free from the deadly disease. Leaflets, poster, and Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) used for preventing malaria infection and reducing associated morbidity and mortality was distributed to the public.
As a part of the World Malaria Day, three best ASHAs workers from the three blocks were presented with the Best ASHAs award. The felicitation programme was conducted at the respective sub-center, out of the 107 ASHAs worker from 48 villages in Longleng district Nyeisho ASHA from Hongyu village under Pongo Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), K Chaiying ASHA from Yangching village, Wanmei ASHA from Amosen village under Tangha (HWC), were felicitated by A Nyumoi Phom, District Vector Borne Consultant (DVBC).
The village health chairman, ANM, Community Health Officer Surveillance Worker and Malaria Technical Supervisor attended the felicitation programme.
