Phek, July 29 (MExN): Zhavame village has estimated a loss of about one crore and fifty lakh rupees as an annual general income of farmers from selling cabbage, potatoes and other Horti products due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
In a press release issued by the village chairman, Vivotso Domeh, the estimation is based on the records of previous years.
With the pandemic causing huge loss to the farmers for lack of market in view of the situation, it however stated appreciation to the District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Phek and his team for visiting the village amidst the crisis to take stock of the situation on July 25, 2020.
Stating that the DHO has taken keen interest in agri and horti products from the Zhavame village ever since it was declared as “Vegetable Village,” he placed on record that their visit has brought a ray of hope and relief to the farmers in the village during this difficult time.
