DIMAPUR, MAY 8 (MExN): The Zeliang Peoples Organization Nagaland (ZPON) today expressed dismay at the alleged attempt of the new PDA Government to divert the Special Road Development Program (SRDP) funds 2017-18 which were approved on February 3, 2018. Under the proposed diversion attempt made available by the Chief Engineer (PWD) office, four projects fall under Peren district which are very important for the district, the ZPON pointed out. “With the much hyped ‘Change is Coming’ slogan, the people of Peren district too were looking forward for positive developmental changes from the new government. However, the first change in Peren district has come as a ‘big blow’ which has dashed the hopes of the people of Peren,” it lamented. It questioned on what ground and criteria the four projects were proposed to be diverted.
The ZPON, citing media reports, said that the four projects for Peren district selected under SRDP 2017-18 proposed to be diverted include maintenance of road at Samziuram Village (Rs 300 lakhs); construction of road from Heningkunglwa village to Dimapur-Khupanala road (Rs 60 lakhs); improvement of road at new district headquarters Peren (Rs 100 lakhs); and improvement of road from Peren-Tening-Nsong (Rs 150 lakhs). The ZPON stated that this proposed diversion will have a “very negative precedence for the state which in fact has already raised eyebrows on the deliverance of justice which is expected from a popular government.”
