Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The Zeme Students’ Union (N) (ZSUN) during the Executive Council held on May 18 resolved to stick to its Annual Executive Resolution No 07 banning the practice of keeping proxy/substitute teachers in government schools under its jurisdiction.
“Undertaking in-depth data collection and checking malpractices in educational institution under its jurisdiction have submitted the documents to the concerned department for necessary action,” a press release from Info and Publicity Secretary ZSUN, Suirangbe Zeliang informed.
The students’ union also decided to stand firm in making the village schools proper and best place for imparting education through suitability and professionalism of teachers posted under its jurisdiction, it said.
ZSUN has asked erring teachers to resume their duties, cautioning that the union will not compromise with “no work, no pay” and take necessary course of action or penalize a fine up to Rs. 50,000 to first defaulter and other necessary actions.
The union meanwhile lamented the poor performance of the government schools in the recently declared result of the HSLC & HSSLC. During the meeting, it also feted all the successful candidates under its jurisdiction.
Noting that pending salary of SSA teachers is “a stumbling block on the part of teachers in performing their best duties,” the ZSUN has requested department concerned and government to look into their grievances.
