
Peren, June 21 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland had organized a peaceful rally at Peren Town on June 20 against the backdoor appointment of 16 primary teachers belonging to non-indigenous of Peren District.
ZSUN has resolved to stick to their demand unless the concerned Education Department failed to meet their demand within a given stipulated period. The event was chaired by ZSUN Assistant General Secretary. Short briefing on the organized rally was delivered by Amonbo Zeliang, ZSUN President. He also laid down the ‘charter of demand.’
The Union demands immediate termination of all 16 primary teachers before July 5 and the order to this effect must be publicized in all local dailies with a copy endorsed to the ZSUN. Failing to comply with the demand ZSUN will be compelled to initiate its own course of action as deemed fit and any eventuality arising out of the matter will be the sole responsibility of School Education Department.
ZSUN demands immediate conduct of open recruitment on or before August 5 at the District Level for free and fair participation of all indigenous candidates with DC Peren as Chairman, SDEO as Member Secretary Assisted by two representatives each from the School Education Department, ZSUN and Kuki Students’ Organisation, Nagaland. It also demanded that a copy of the result (selected candidates) to be endorsed to the ZSUN and one each to both the representatives of 6th and 7th A/C.
Solidarity speech was delivered by Kuki Inpi, Nagaland spokesperson where he stated that, “what is being laid on our plate have been enjoyed by others, for which there might be shortage for our family.” Joshua ZLR Baudi Finance Secretary lamented saying, “it is regretted to learnt the appointment of non indigenous as primary teachers by the Education Department has made a mockery to the concerned district by snatching away the deserving primary teachers employment solely meant for the indigenous inhabitants of Peren District.”
Vote of thanks was delivered by Josiah, ZSUN Vice-President. Thereafter, there was peaceful marching of the gathering with placards towards SDEO Office where ZSUN Officials submitted ultimatum to the authority incharge as well as to the District Commissioner.
The ZSUN in a press release also expressed and extended gratitude to Peren Students’ Union, Peren Town Youth Organization, Kuki Inpi and Students’ Organization Nagaland, Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland, Zeliangrong Mothers’ Organization, High School students under Peren Town, concern citizens and well wishers for extending full support and co-operation in organizing a peaceful proposed rally.
