Peren, October 25 (MExN): The Zeliang Students' Union, Nagaland (ZSUn) has announced the commencement of an intensified second phase of agitation starting on October 29 in response to the alleged lack of action by the Department of School Education regarding demands concerning educational infrastructure and staff shortages in Peren District schools.
The ZLSU expressed dissatisfaction over what it describes as the “indifferent attitude” of the Department of School Education, which, they argue, has failed to adequately address issues affecting students’ educational progress. In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Peren District, the ZLSU highlighted that the indefinite closure of educational offices, which began on October 9, has now entered its fifteenth day without significant progress. While the All Nagaland School Teachers' Association (ANSTA) of Peren District has voiced concerns about the prolonged shutdown's impact on administrative functions, the ZLSU stressed its own focus on the detrimental effect on students’ education, particularly due to the shortage of subject teachers in various schools.
“Our foremost concern is the welfare and academic progress of the students. We will stand by this cause persistently,” the ZLSU stated. They added that the Directorate of School Education would bear responsibility for any adverse incidents arising from the renewed protest actions.
