The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of February took place at the DC Conference Hall in Zunheboto on February 10. The meeting was chaired by Er Picto Shohe, the MLA and Chairperson of the DPDB.

Several issues were discussed, with a particular focus on the development and infrastructure challenges faced by the Zunheboto district.

Er Shohe highlighted the poor state of transportation in Akhuaito Sub Block, noting that there has been no bus transportation since the road was handed over from the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to the National Highway in 2016. He pointed out that this has led to significant transportation difficulties, especially for students traveling from Kisikita to Akuluto, via KPA to Zunheboto. He also emphasised the need to add a backward quota for Atoizu, calling for a collective effort to improve the district, saying, “Let us grow together for the betterment of Zunheboto district.”

The meeting also touched on the issue of the Horticulture office in Atoizu. It was revealed that although 30 hectares of land had been donated by local landowners for horticultural office, there has been a lack of manpower, and the public is facing difficulties due to this issue. Er Shohe described “Atoizu as a neglected area in need of urgent attention.”

During the meeting, ZRSU President, Viki K Zhimo raised concerns about irregularities among Heads of Departments (HODs). He read a circular highlighting the issue of HODs leaving the office early, which has led to public frustration due to the inability to access proper services.

The Executive Engineer of Power Department, Zunheboto, also gave a presentation, informing attendees that Aichighemi village has been selected as the model solar village for the district. He stressed the importance of energy as a consumer commodity and stated, “Pay for what we consume.”

Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Vice Chairperson of Zunheboto DPDB, entrusted the Chief Veterinary Officer with the responsibility of presenting the PowerPoint presentation at the next meeting.
