Zunheboto registers 20 cases on violence against women and children in last 3 years

Zunheboto, August 18 (MExN): Commissioner & Secretary to the government of Nagaland, Department of Social Welfare & Administrator NSSWB, Martha R Ritse inaugurated Sakhi-One Stop Centre office building at Zunheboto district on August 18. 

A DIPR report stated that in the inaugural speech, Commissioner Secretary expressed concern stating that “in the last three years, Zunheboto district have had only 20 cases registered on violence against women and children, which if it is genuine, Zunheboto can be declared as one of the safest places for women and children but if lesser cases are being filed against the bigger number of crimes committed, it could be a cause of concern for everyone.”

She appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto to work into, with the concerned departments to get the inside of the actual scenario. Meanwhile, the secretary lauded the district administration headed by Deputy Commissioner for ensuring that the building came up in the stipulated time despite many challenges. She further exhorted the department to work with utmost sincerity for their work is in a way a noble deed as well.

DC, Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS) delivering his welcome address lauded the efforts of Sakhi-One Stop Centre so far, even though it had been functioning in a rental building which had certain limitations.

Earlier, the programme began with the unveiling of the inaugural stone and invocation by Assistant pastor youth (ZTSBC) Nipato. Speech on behalf of the Social Welfare department was delivered by Director, Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi, vote of thanks by EAC and Nodal officer OSC Zunheboto, Mopling M. Phom and culminated with benediction by Associate Pastor sector(SBCZ) Veto Assumi.
