ZVYSO 63rd annual Sports Meet in Zhadima concludes

Kohima, January 13 (MExN): The 63rd Annual Sports Meet of Zhadima Village Youth and Sports Organisation (ZVYSO) concluded on January 11 at Zhadima Sports Complex.

The five-day event saw spirited participation from 13 teams across 8 Khels, with the closing ceremony graced by Niholu Ayemi, OSD Transport as the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Ayemi emphasised that government jobs should not be viewed as the only career option, urging the youth to consider sports as a viable sector. He encouraged the players to uphold the core values of discipline, hard work, and consistency in their sporting endeavours. Ayemi highlighted that these qualities are not only essential for success in sports but also in life. 

The closing ceremony was chaired by Vilhoubeinuo Sorünuo, Social & Cultural Secretary ZVYSO.

The Northern Angami Youth and Sports Association-C, led by President Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo, graced the occasion as patrons.

The ceremony was hosted by Neingusalie Khoubve and Medolenuo Loucü, who served as the comperes.

Kimho Khel-II A emerged as the overall champion of the sports meet, clinching the Men’s Football Trophy, the Women’s Football Trophy, and the Men’s Volleyball Championship title. Calhake Khel-II secured the runner-up position in Men’s Football, while Phelhuozou Khel was the runner-up in Women’s Football. In Women’s Volleyball, Basa Khel-A took home the championship, with Kimho Khel-I coming in second place. 

A highlight of the sports meet was the re-introduction of the Women’s Football event after a hiatus of nine years, with Krodi Rhetso, Commandant of the 10th NAP IR Battalion, Zhadima, gracing the occasion  as the special guest on the second day of the sports meet.
